HISTORY

Berjé Inc. was founded in 1949 by Julius “Les” and Alexander Bleimann, father and uncle to its current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kim Bleimann. We were located at 356 West Broadway in what has become the fashionable SoHo area of NYC. While Alexander worked in perfumery, Les set about developing many strategic alliances providing access to unique by-products and raw materials which were the foundation of the company’s early growth.

Kim joined the company in 1973 at Berjé’s second location in Long Island City. Kim’s industry knowledge came from sharing that single office with his dad and uncle. Today, Kim Bleimann sits on the board of the Fragrance Materials Association (FMA) and the International Federation of Essential Oil and Aroma Trades (IFEAT) as treasurer.

As Berjé outgrew its Long Island City location, we moved into our current central New Jersey location increasing the company’s size 10 fold. Our facility is over 180,000 square feet, and we maintain arguably one of the largest raw material repositories in the US.

Berjé’s vast sourcing and raw material expertise as well as its support of organizations like the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA), Chem Sources, the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), the European Federation of Essential Oils (E.F.E.O.), the FMA, and IFEAT creates a firmly positioned partnership to sustain the future needs of our industry.
