2018 Flavor Trend

What is a unicorn flavor? It seems like Starbucks was the first big commercial hit in this area or at least what drew the buzz.  Since then other businesses, brands, and restaurants have jumped on the bandwagon producing their own variation of “unicorn”.   Unlike activated charcoal, unicorn does seem to have an expectation behind it and expected to be cloyingly sweet.  We’ve seen this flavor break through on the shelves with Polar water’s Unicorn seltzer and in June 2017 Oreo committed to their fans to make a Unicorn flavor.  How much life left in this trend is unknown, however sudden breakthroughs like this are certainly worth paying attention to if not mirroring.
