Cardamom oil

September 2019

Prices continue to escalate.  Guatemala’s new crop will not begin until October. Until then there is limited availability and poor quality / yields for the remaining seeds available.   There is also concern on new crop output due to challenging weather and conditions of the plants, but it is too early to predict.  India’s new production is in process now and prices are at record levels also due to poor weather.

Cedarleaf oil

September 2019

Recent production over the past few months was not as good as expected due to a late production start and high heat during the summer months causing low yields.  Prices are expected to stay at these levels, but certainly not weaken.

Mint products and derivatives are available, but currency depreciation in India along with slow demand has turned pricing lower.    This could change when demand becomes strong  again or Indian Rupee strengthens against the USD.

The effects in India of additional 2% tax imposed on cash withdrawals above 10 Lakhs caused by a cash shortage crisis is yet to show on the market.

Tea Tree Oil

September 2019

The real effects of the recent drought and frost are now coming to fruition, as it is realized that volumes are down nearly 25%.   Good carry-over stocks are keeping prices stable at the moment, but it is not known how long this will last and will depend on demand over the next few months.

Organic Tea Tree Oil remains scarce with high prices for those who can find it.
