Geraniol is a water white to very pale yellow alcohol that is available in multiple variations and purities including extraction from multiple botanical sources.
The rain has not impacted the crop but yields and quality are inferior. Prices are soft but lots of phthalates contamination and difficult to source good material.
While we are in the middle of the crop, rains have delayed harvesting. One report states current oil quality is poor, testing at only 31% Citronellal. Due to this, there has been an ever so slight reduction in prices, but availability still tight.
Poor crop in China, strong demand = high prices.
With an unexpected shutdown of a major producer and increased quantities allocated to synthetic Menthol production, Hydroxycitronellal, Citronellyl Acetate, Citronellol, and other derivatives have been affected. As major users try to cover their needs we would expect prices to firm.
