Description of Amyris Oil

Amyris Oil is steam-distilled from the wood of the Amyris balsamifera tree, which grows throughout South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. Its name is derived from the Greek word αμυρων (amyron), which quite literally means “intensely scented.” Amyris lives up to its name, providing a fragrant oil that is both woody and sweet, with a lasting tenacity that eventually fades into a peppery and balsamic drydown. Amyris oil is an excellent fixative and has extensive applications within perfumery, particularly when blended with woody or green materials.
