Both the US and UK are seeing declines in ketchup usage owing in part to the introduction of alternative ketchups.  Two notable examples are the asian inspired banana ketchup and the familiarly colored beetroot ketchup but by far the ketchup, that seems to be most popular is made from heirloom tomatoes.  With its local, farm fresh connotation heirloom ketchup maintains enough of the familiar flavor and consistency of its more common variety while highlighting its trendier elements.  Beyond new ketchups, a host of new and exotic chutneys, pepper sauces, and root bases continue to collectively draw people away from their traditional condiments.
