As carbohydrate based meals struggle, cereal makers continue their scramble to reposition themselves. The pivot to health-conscious consumers is beginning to pay off as the major manufacturers post quarterly profits and invest into significant funds aimed at startups.  Some sugar-laden, shelf-stable snack food major brands are taking minority stakes in new, fresh companies that fit within their main lineup of products with hopes of targeting the new millennial consumer. This low risk high, reward strategy refreshes the possibilities for the once nostalgic breakfast food. As the these manufacturing giants align their interests and unite to change the perception of cereal, there is no doubt we are in for a (healthy) treat.
