Maple and brown sugar are taking a backseat as oatmeal goes savory. Sweet Oats doused with cream, sugar, bananas and raisins are still a staple comfort food as oatmeal’s success continues to rise but a part of the rise is attributed to new, unconventional pairings.  Immediately, it may be off-putting to consider oats paired with a soft-cooked egg, squash or tomatoes but, when you consider the evolution of the previous crépe trend, it’s not much of a departure.  Expect the next development of ready-made, on-the-go packages to cater to this nutrient packed trend.
