Orange growers in Brazil estimate a 24.36% reduction in productivity when compared to the previous orange season. This decline in productivity is attributed to less rainfall, higher temperatures, and the continued threat of citrus greening within key producing regions. Recent blooms have also occurred during the rainy season of São Paulo, causing blossom-to-end-rot and increasing fruit droppage rates. These issues, combined with an overall lack of availability from alternate sourcing locations, has caused issues for price stability within the global orange market....

The 2024 crop is now underway in Haiti. Production has started flow, and fuel continues to be one of the largest pressures on local distilleries, alongside political instability. Root availability is good, however, and costs across the production line are firm. Prices have also firmed and are projected to strengthen over the next few months. Additionally, stock levels in Europe and the US are low. Berjé continues to work with EcoBio and a selection of key smaller distilleries to ensure sustainable supply, supporting local production within the region. ...

Bulgaria is in the beginning stages of its processing season for lavender, and oil production is currently underway at Berjé Trakia. In 2023, the lavender market underwent major changes to its supply structure and total acreage within producing regions such as Bulgaria. Weak demand in certain sectors of the consumer market led to a sharp reduction in the acreage allocated to lavender in Bulgaria, which will result in a significant reduction of essential oils production this year. However, thanks to our close partnerships with local growing communities, Berjé remains well-positioned in the lavender market. We are firmly committed to supporting lavender farmers and will continue to purchase their long-term production....

Spring Harvest is now nearing completion in China. Production volumes for this harvest are estimated to be down approximately 30% versus last year, however, global demand has remained low over the past few months. For the production of derivatives and New Method oil, volumes from Vietnam are readily available to supplement demand. Prices for these, as well as Traditional Method oil, are nearing historic lows. The Fall Harvest will prove to be an interesting season for farmers to be incentivized to produce if prices remain low. We are watching and monitoring closely. ...
