Brazil’s citrus prices are currently firm and will continue this trend once the forecast for the coming season 2020-2021 is released May 2020 by Fundecitrus. Forecast for 2020-2021 season expected at 230-260 million boxes.

The fruit yield is also expected to be lower as it will be a multi-blossom season.

The price of the fruit is also likely to be high, due to the fruit shortage. The farmers are indicating prices in the range of R$ 22 – R$ 28 per box and the industry is trying to bring it to R$ 18-22 per box. At the same time, the industry which has remained flat, is unable to support the rising costs.

Many of the larger citrus processing companies in Brazil are already planning to only run a limited number of their plants as they will not have enough fruit to run factories at full capacity.
