Description of Cassia Oil

Also known as “Chinese Cinnamon Oil” and “Cassia Cinnamon,” Cassia Oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the Cinnamomum Cassia tree, a fragrant plant grown throughout Southeast China. This oil is warm and spicy, with slightly woody and balsamic characteristics blended into an intense sweetness. These spicy-warm notes are incredibly popular among the flavor industry and are often combined with cherry flavorings for baked goods, candies, and mouthwashes. Cassia is also far more accessible than most other cinnamon-type oils, making it an extremely cost efficient alternative to “true cinnamon.”
