Description of Opoponax Oil
A rich oil steam-distilled from the resin of the Commiphora kataf tree, Opoponax Oil is a product native to east Africa and Arabia. The oil shares some aromatic similarities with its close relative myrrh, though opoponax differentiates itself by having a sharper balsamic, animal-like note upon drydown. Opoponax oil also has s woody, sweet, and ambery quality, making it a common inclusion as a perfume base. In flavor, opoponax is occasionally used in certain liqueurs, wines, and other speciality alcohols.
