The USDA Citrus Production Forecast for Florida Tangerines is now sitting at 800,000, which represents a 10% decrease from the previous season.
In Japan, current tangerine production for the 2021-22 season is forecast at 924,000 mts. This represents a 5.3% decrease from the previous year. Approximately 80% of Japan’s tangerine and mandarin crop is Satsuma. The area allocated to plant these mandarins is projected to shrink by 1,300 hectares this year, down to 50,400 hectares total. Approximately 90% of the country’s mandarins are consumed fresh.
